The Script say The X Factor is ruining the music industry

Rock band The Script reckon X Factor is running the music industry and says The X Factor is breeding artists like this year's winner Matt Cardle, who are doomed to failure.

Lead singer Danny O'Donoghue said: “How many years has it been on now and how many successful artist [have there been]? The diamonds are few and far between. It’s easy to go from singing karaoke to being on the stage and being famous. The hard work is what’s important.”

Guitarist Mark Sheehan like Danny has been member of the band joined since 1996, reckons Simon Cowell’s 'fast track' to fame fails to prepare artists properly, he said, “If you haven’t played smaller gigs and grown with those phases I don’t think you really understand what’s happening. I’m not sure those X Factor kids understand what’s going on. You can’t understand. So I actually feel sorry for them in a way.”

Reckons made the concert acts that will be fragile in the face of failure, he said, “I think the first taste of a little bit of a dip is going to be frightening for these people. It’s a lot for your mind to adjust to at that level, to be suddenly taken from obscurity and then you’re on every page of every magazine.”

Danny said, “When you work for a long time to get there, the rewards and the just deserves are there. For every show we do our fans know we’ve taken so long as a band to try and get there. We’ve been working really hard, gig after gig, night after night.”

The Script - The Script Love Live Performances

The Script revealed that they don't care about the size of their concerts, they love to perform live and love when people hear them live.

When The Script are performing they are the happiest.

The group who have just returned to Ireland following a successful US tour, the band said that they don't care whether they are performing a small gig or big, they just focus on performing good when they are on-stage and turn on to give "The Script performance machine".

"As a band we're at our happiest when we're playing live on stage. The minute we walk on, anything that's going on gets left at the side of the stage.

"We put the same show on every time we go on stage so it doesn't matter if it's a small venue or an arena tour. Put two people in front of us and we'll turn into The Script performance machine. When the pressure's on we get it done", said drummer Glen Power to Bang Showbiz.

Glen - who formed the band with Danny O' Donoghue and Mark Sheehan - also revealed the 'For The First Time' hitmakers still can't believe people across the globe want to hear them play.

He said: "To have fans around the world who actually want to come and see us play we're never had that before. No matter what's going on in your life you man up and get out there and you do the gig. It's the fans that matter."

The band’s set was lean, a quick 13-song/75-minute set, with no filler. They did test a few newbies with the Science & Faith‘s title track proving to be the most notable. For the most part though, it was about the crowd favorites and the sing-alongs that came with each. “Man Who Can’t Be Moved”, the band’s fist single and breakthrough hit, was accompanied by the biggest sing-along of the night as O’Donoghue began the song acapella before the band joined in for a full-throttle run through. The response from the crowd left the band in awe as O’Donoghue admired at its conclusion, “Thanks….a very humbling experience”.

For The First Time Lyrics - The Best Script Song

She's all laid up in bed with a broken heart
While i'm drinking jack all alone in my local bar
And we don't know how we got into this mad situation
Only doing things out of frustration

Trying to make it work but man these times are hard
She needs me now but I can't seem to find a time
I've git a new job now in the umemploymentline
And we don't know we got into this mess it's a gods test
Someone hulp us cause we're doing our best

Trying to make it work but man these times are hard
But we're gunna start by drinking old cheap bottles of wine
Sit talking up all night
Saying things we haven't for a while, a while yeah
We're smiling but we're close to tears
Even after all these years
We just now got the feeling that we're meeting
For the first time

She's in line at the door with her head held high
While I just lost my job but didn't lose my flight
But we both know how we're gonna make it work when it hurts
When you pick yourself up you get kicked in the dirt

Trying to make it work but man these times are hard
But we're gunna start by drinking old cheap bottles of wine
Saying things we haven't for a while, a while yeah
We're smiling but we're close to tears

Even after all these years
We just now got the feeling that we're meeting
For the first time

Drinking old cheap bottles of wine
Saying things we haven't for a while, a while yeah
We're smiling but we're close to tears
Even after all these years
We just now got the feeling that we're meeting
For the first time
For the first time
Oh, for the first time
Yeah, for the first time

Oh these times are hard
Yeah they're making us crazy
Don't give up on me baby
Oh these times are hard
Yeah they're making us crazy
Don't give up on me baby

Oh these times are hard
Yeah they're making us crazy
Don't give up on me baby

Oh these times are hard
Yeah they're making us crazy
Don't give up on me baby
